Fighting the Wutai at their base. Should be fun.

Sephiroth stood at the base camp looking at the others carefully. They were about to infiltrate the Wutai's main base. Zack Fair and Cloud Strife had agreed to join them after the Director agreed they needed the experience. Cloud was an infantryman and more for security. Sephiroth didn't know why he needed to be out here within the danger zone. Since, this was mainly a job for the Firsts, Zack becoming one very soon by the looks coming from Angeal lately. The boy was about to grow up and become like his mentor. That was his dream, he'd heard the puppy mention. Cloud had better not get in any danger, otherwise ShinRa would lose another infantryman.

Sephiroth would have to keep a close guard on the boy since he was the youngest and least experienced out of them all. He shot a look to Genesis, the one who always loved a fight. They would need stealth as well as skill on this mission if they were to infiltrate and not raise any alarms. The place was crawling with Wutai troops and they needed to be dispatched as quickly as possible. Something Sephiroth was good at. He looked up at the grey sky and smiled to himself. This time tomorrow, they could have won the war against the Wutai.

Angeal looked round at the others in the camp, he too wondered on why all three of the Firsts were called on this mission. Everyone knew that with both Genesis and Sephiroth’s skills it would be completed in hardly anytime. He turned his attention at the younger members of the team, Zack seemed rearing to go while Cloud seemed unsure of himself.

Satisfied everyone was getting ready he leaned against one of the poles in the camp thinking about the mission ahead.

Is Godo in there? Is this the final reckoning?

[He was, as always, eager, a smirk spreading over red lips. Sephiroth knew him too well.]

[Zack shifted and looked at Angeal nervously. He was ready to fight by the side of his heroes and best of all, by Angeal's side. Genesis and his damn Loveless, however, was not making him feel any more comfortable.]

You ready, Angeal? [he asked the dark man with a sideways glance, noting how pensive Angeal was. It was always disconcerting to see him like that but they were in the midst of war, after all.]

Cloud could only shake his head at the others. He couldn’t believe he was on this mission to start with, let alone be with the legendary trio of Firsts, and Zack who was looking like a First in the making. Maybe one day Cloud thought I can be like them.

“Sirs how far is it to the Fort?” He asked as he moved closer to the group hoping that at least he could prove worthy to be on the team.

Sephiroth rolled his eyes slightly as Genesis began quoting Loveless again. Typical. The man was obsessed with that book. He thought about hiding it away just to see what the red head's reaction would be, but wasn't going to be so mean.

Cloud's question brought Sephiroth to face him. "Fort Tamblin is around a mile away roughly. An easy walk from here through some dense woodland then out on the other side. We'll have to take care as they're are sentries posted on all the watch towers around the castle walls. Taking them out first might be the best idea. Stealth is the key." He nodded. Looking towards Angeal, Genesis and Zack. Mako energy could be a useful element here.

"Is this your first away mission, Cloud Strife? Away from the ShinRa building."

Angeal sighed out loud. For goodness sake why does Genesis always have to quote Loveless? The redhead knew it off by heart, surly he knew by now that the other didn’t appreciate it. He was already feeling uneasy about this mission. Something about it seemed… off. He wasn’t sure by there was something vital being left out.

He quickly put those thoughts to the back of his mind, when he heard Zack. “I’m ready Zack. But what about the two of you? “ His gaze went to both Zack and Cloud.. “But you are you ready? He gave the two of them a stern glare that asked for a honest answer.

Genesis was a bit crestfallen that this would not be one of his grand entrance, fiery vengeance full-out assaults, nor would it be their grand opponent awaiting them inside like a sitting duck ripe for the plucking. However, systematically bringing down a fort was quite appealing in its own right.

"What do you suggest," he asked Sephiroth and Angeal, less motivated to be their greatest rival when they could not afford to muck this up when they were supposed to be supporting one another. There would plenty of time for them to play when the war was over. "Shall we split up, each of us take a corner tower, with Cloud accompanying one? It is less likely that they would know what hit them in time if we all attack together and meet inside."

Zack shifted his feet nervously at that suggestion but he wouldn't argue. He wanted to make them all proud of them, especially Angeal.

"I... I'm ready as I'll ever be and I can take one... but I'll need to have a head-to-head before we start so I make sure I have the instructions. To the letter, 'kay, guys?"

Cloud looked at the others uncertainly. It sounded like a good plan, if they spilt up they could attack all at once and confusing the enemy. He looked over to Zack to see what his reaction was. He might just be a infantryman but he wanted to prove his worth on the mission.

“Sirs if you do that are we going to take on the troops at the front? By doing that we could use that as a distraction for the others to get into the building from the other locations” He suggested hoping that the others might consider.

Sephiroth nodded at Genesis. That sounded like a sound plan. Seperating and each taking a watch tower and dispatching the sentries from up top. As for Cloud, he would have to accompany one of the Firsts. There was no excuse for having him attacked, since he was the least experienced out of them all.

"A good plan, Genesis. Perhaps we should fist decide who is going with who then split up. Perhaps Zack and Angeal together?" He shot a glance at them before looking at Cloud. "Mr. Strife. Perhaps you would like to accompany them? You are familiar with Zack, so perhaps that would be the best choice."

Looking at Genesis he smiled slightly. "Perhaps Genesis and I could dispatch some guards on the right hand side of the fort. I believe that might work best. Any suggestions?"

Angeal gave Sephiroth a grateful look. He was glad that they had been teamed up, he had wanted to keep and eye out for Zack and Cloud.

“That sounds like a good plan. I was meaning to take Zack and Cloud with me anyway.” He turned to Zack.” I’m sure you are ready puppy, just stay close and do what I say, the same goes for you Cloud”.

Well this was going to be a strange mission he thought. He had only slight concerns for the other two First’s as he knew they can look after there own, but they were still his friends. He looked to Genesis to see what his view on things were.

Genesis blushed prettily at the prospect of going off alone with Sephiroth. He couldn't help it. It had become a reflex by now but anyone who noticed could easily assume they were going off to have sex.

"A f-...fine plan indeed," he said, a bit more softly than he had meant to.

"You are in good hands, children," he said to Zack and Cloud. "Angeal will be a perfect instructor as well as ensure that you remain safe... No such luck if you were left to me..." he teased good-naturedly, walking over to stand beside the Silver General.

Zack stepped closer to Angeal and Cloud as well, only gracing Genesis' snark by making a funny face.

"You alright, Cloud?" he asked, ruffling the young blond's hair. "Genesis is right though. Angeal and I, won't let anything happen... to you or any of us if we can help it."

He felt a lot better since he knew the others would look out for him; however he did also want to prove himself to them. He knew they would be alright, after all here were the three legendary Firsts and Zack who was fast becoming a legend himself along the lower ranks. He smiled inwardly at Genesis’s behaviour, really he didn’t mind doing anything he wanted, mission or not.

He flinched slightly at Zacks ruffling of his hair, but changed it to a small smile as he ducked to the side to avoid his friend’s hands. He really hate people touching his hair but Zack was a exception.. sometimes. “Zack…” he gave him a slight scowl. But gave the others a appreciative look “Thanks. So when are we going?”

Sephiroth looked at Genesis and smiled. He knew was the red head wanted more than anything else. Cloud's question made him think.

"We can either move tonight or rest overnight and attack at dawn. What do you all want to do? Head back to camp to sleep first or attack them now?" He looked from Angeal to Cloud. It was up to them what option they wanted to pick. He was happy with either.

Angeal thought about it, they had only just arrived but he had a feeling this was going to be a long mission. It was best if they rested for the night to make them refreshed for the morning.

“I think we should stay at the camp for tonight. It will refresh us for the main attack in the morning” He looked at the others for conformation.

Genesis nodded with a rather shy smile, not having any problems with this, as long as he could bed down near Sephiroth, of course... something he was prepared to fight over if necessary.

"Once launched, this attack will not be over until the fort is ours. Good respite beforehand is very wise."

"All for it, Angeal," Zack chimed, smiling at his mentor, highly encouraged, elbowing Cloud in the side good-naturedly.

Cloud winced at the elbow; he reckoned that Zack forgot his own strength sometimes, but quickly hid it behind a smile. He didn’t mind staying in the camp for a night, especially if he could stay with Zack, no offense with the others but they were quite intimidating due to there skill level.

“It sounds good, shall we do that now then?”

"I think we should all bed down for the night. Get our energy for tomorrow's raid on the fort." He looked to Cloud then back to the others. He couldn't help but notice Genesis's sly grin in the corner of his eyes. What did that man have in his mind?

"I will bed down with Genesis, since we are attacking the fort together. It makes sense to bed down with whoever you are teamed up with."

“Alright then. Zack, Cloud make your way into the tent. Now would be a good time to organize your stuff and to check your equipment. “He asked as he gave them a look to get going. He looked back at the other two.

“Why don’t you two do the same? I’m sure you have a lot of things to do” He added a slight smirk at that. He knew full well of what the two of them would get up to. With that and walked towards his tent, gently pulling the two younger men to the tent.

"Yes," Genesis said, agreeing heartily with both men. "No arguments from me. We will manage, won't we, Seph?" He winked at him playfully.

"Sweet dreams, Angeal... boys..." He gave them a tone that implied that there might very well be hanky-panky in the other tent. Hanky-panky was the only real thing of consequence on Genesis Rhapsodos' mind now that Sephiroth would be sleeping close to him.

Zack looked at Genesis as Angeal led he and Cloud away.

"...'Re we gonna be popping Cloud's cherry tonight, Teach?" He grinned over at Cloud, only half-serious but he enjoyed making the younger teen feel uncomfortable.

Not again Cloud thought at Zacks comment, even though Angeal was his mentor his friend forgot that as a First he was his superior. Shaking his head slightly and giving Zack an annoyed look he walked into the tent. Even though some of their equipment was there in containers a lot of their clothes and bedding was still bundled up in the corner of the tent.

After walking over to get his things he moved over to let the others get there’s. “So is there any kind of spot where you want to go or do we just pick?” He asked as he figured it would be rude to just go anywhere.

Sephiroth knew that look from the red head. He knew full well what Genesis wanted most. He nodded to Angeal and the two younger men before to his and Gen's tent. He climbed inside and sat down on his sleeping bag. Stretching his tired legs out he awaited the red head.
